V Scan Air (equipment)

At SoNAR we have two portable ultrasound probes (and linked ipads)

The probe is an a hand held device with a wireless connection.

There is a phased array probe at one end and a linear probe at the other

PHASED ARRAY

This probe is great for temporal resolution. So great for cardiac ultrasound

It is the smaller head of the probe

LINEAR

Higher frequency and therefore great for superficial structures such as lung and vascular scanning

Both probes can be used to look for the line and I suggest moving between the two until you feel confident, the linear probe can transmit deep enough to detect the UVC and we would advice starting here to see this.

To switch between the two probes there is a side button which you press and the working probe end will light up.

The IPAD/APP

The app is on the first screen of the IPAD

You can sign is as a guest or create an account with your work email

At the top left of the screen you can press the small heart and this will give you presets for each scanning option, ie Vascular, lung, cardiac. See below

When then scanning you can freeze then take a picture. You can take a small loop by just pressing camera without freeze and you can look beyond basic ultrasound mode (m mode and colour doppler) by pressing the + button. see below
